OK,
USDA has these ridiculous ideas about the sale of raw milk. So, they're trying to pass their agenda in South Dakota of all places.
They think we're kind of dumb out here and in the middle of nowhere, few people, so they run all the junk through here figuring if they can jam it down the independent dumb farmer and rancher's throats out here, then it will fly in the high population areas where people are "smarter."

Anyway, as you know, in Nov.  the head of our AG licensing & Regulations Dept. , Darwin Kurtenbach, tried to push his little baby bill which would make us all into criminals if we buy or sell raw milk.

Fortunately it died for lack of support but I knew they wouldn't take no for an answer, so now it's back.  This time it's in the legislature and they're trying to make it a $5000 fine if you get caught selling raw milk and "endangering public health".

Give us a break!    I'll leave it to someone else to list here the advantages of raw milk and how it's not raw milk that kills.    However, this week, the week of Feb. 7, they plan to hear the bill in the Legislative Ag. committee.  Please get hold of all the men and women on that committee and inform them that we do not need this law.  The law as we have it right now is sufficient to "protect the public" while allowing you to sell milk directly to your neighbors if they want to "take the risk" of drinking your mik.

If it isn't stopped here, it will spread everywhere.   As Earl Pitts would say: "WAKE UP AMERICA!"

What this fails to reveal is that SD is one of the biggest states for RVers to have residency in.  They have no income tax & that makes them very attractive.  They also make it very easy to be a non-resident resident.  Those RVers vote.  Many of them are very prissy & are often Democrats, so they do what the government tells them.  They'll vote to restrict the sale of raw milk, to protect others.
